This story has been a long time coming, I think I knew that I wanted Lucy to be the Sheriff of Hell about the fourth or fifth month in. She was a gun toting slightly scary gal married to a guy who also liked guns.  I had this whole elaborate plan of her first traning under the military arm of the Hell forces, then introducing over time her love of law and order, and finally post elections running for Sheriff.

But then I got lazy and decided to just skip all of that, say it’s the back story and move on.

She’s the sheriff now. No elections needed, the government is still forming, it’s a semi free for all.

Also, I like the way I drew her here. A more necky/lean looking Lucy. Not the odd scrunched up Lucy I’ve been doodling lately.

When I first read this issue of The Walking Dead, I was a bit disappointed by the general lack of action and the seemingly plodding plot line involving Rick and his son. But later on it began to sink into me how profound it all was, how Rick was on that edge of dying and losing everything, yet still managed to claw his way out of the spiral of depression and hopelessness. The sole reason behind that resurfacing was in his son.
